As a partner, there are several ways in which you can play an active role to support your wife/partner during the birth of your baby.
During the first part of my partner lessons, you will get extensive information about:
- labor and delivery (stages, contractions, hormones), so that you know what is happening at every stage and how you to enhance a successful delivery.
- The Dutch midwifery system.
- Most used interventions and pain relief (on request).
In the second part of the partner class, you’ll get a lot of practical tools and tips to support your wife/partner:
- Which breathing variations your partner can use and how you can contribute to this.
- Which positions and movements help your baby to descend in the pelvis and be born.
- How to help your partner relax the mussels of her belly, buttocks and pelvic floor.
- Which relaxation techniques your partner can use to recover during breaks between contractions.
- How to massage your partner and how to apply counter pressure when she is experiencing back contractions?
- What you can do to help your partner during the pushing stage.
- How you can contribute when your healthcare provider believes an intervention is necessary.
The Individual Childbirth preparation course is taught in the comfort of your own home. You can opt for a single session or a longer course. The contents are similar to what I teach in my group classes, with room for individual adjustments tailored to your personal situation. The Individual Childbirth Preparation course is easily combined with the Mindfulness course (Dutch only).

Pregnant and Fit compact includes one longer partner class of two hours.
